Gambling out of Depression
The affluent class is often one which constitute of members suffering from boredom and loneliness. This is one reason why these members are always prone to getting depressed. Sometimes due to the lack of skill and sometimes due to the lack of dedication absorption of these people into institutional organizations at times is a tad intricate. Often these people mostly non-working class resort to the casino and other gambling activities. This is mainly due to the fact that they are simply unwilling to sweat it out for someone else and are too bored of either shopping or drinking alone. These people constitute a major part of the regular visiting population.
Another class of people exists which find gambling to be a resourceful gateway to get out of all their troubles. People in financial jeopardy are usually people who are victims of stress and depression. These people always try to find a one-shot way out of all their problems and dream about a better life which only pushes them further into the puddles of depression as they start to think of their own lives as pathetic. This wish of finding a one shot way out of all their problems and getting depressed about their financial turmoil draws them more and more close to gambling. Once they start gambling they fall into further jeopardy with their finances where they can find no way out and there is no looking back all the more adding to their depression.
While identifying the problems and seeking help at an early stage usually results in fruitful remedies, these people are already too depressed to figure out that they actually may need some counseling. And even if in some cases they do figure out, seeking the help of a counselor is beyond what they can afford; while in case of gambling they feel as though they will gain money instead of losing it as their depression hampers their clear-sightedness.
BEING CHRISTIAN
For true prosperity and true success one should seek the Lord and not ‘Good luck’. Since we prosper at the stake of our neighbors we should see gambling as a sin.
“And this commandment we have from him that he who loveth god love his brother also”(1John 4:20-21)
“America is addicted to gambling and doesn’t even know it. Americans are familiar with our nations other major addictions: narcotics, alcohol, tobacco…But today, the fastest growing addiction in America are unchecked ad almost unrecognized. It is gambling.”
Most of the gamblers do not know what they have become-where they are in the crossroads of life. When slowly becoming an addict you hide you whereabouts from our near and dear ones. You may tell people about your addiction who don’t know you but it is your guilt working inside that make you secretive from your loved ones. One may tell himself to be a recreational casino. Well it is up to the point that you plan to stake a certain amount and don’t go beyond that. But addicts or those catching up the addiction find themselves to be in front of ATMs or using paychecks.
It’s at this point of time that you’re loved near and dear ones get concerned about you. Your behavior certainly does change and this is best reflected when you get the concerns. It’s also the time when your focus completely moves away from God and you concentrate upon your gambling and the money. The bible doesn’t mention gambling to be a sin in direct statement but it certainly says that having an addiction that takes the place of God in our heart is certainly a sin.
